The Altar
As each came down to the altar,
With burdens they possessed.
They each asked for salvation and,
Their sins they had confessed.
I saw the tears fall down their face,
As on their knees they prayed. Had come to the knowledge
of Christ,
And the price He had paid.
I closed my eyes and felt tears come,
So full of love was I.
For Jesus Christ who loved me first,
So much that he did die.

I felt so very unworthy,
And said a silent prayer.
To praise and thank our God above,
That for me he could care.
I prayed for those at the altar,
And asked God to bless.
To dry and wipe away their tears,
As their sins they did confess.
I know when days on earth are past,
A better place I'll be.
Because God gave His only son,
Who shed His blood for me.
