It so hard for a single Dad,
To know just what to say.
To help my children understand,
Why I am gone each day.

I come home to an empty house,
There's none to greet me there.
No sound of laughter or of play,
Or hugs that I may share.

I go for walks and wish that we,
Were together once again.
I have memories of days past,
When we were happy then.

I long to hear them call my name,
And I anticipate,
The times they're in my arms once more,
Though hard it is to wait.

When our visits come to an end,
I feel my heart will break
And hope that each will carry home,
Sweet memories we did make.
